DUBAI: In an extraordinary stroke of luck, an Indian expat has won the region’s first 24 karat gold-plated Tesla Cybertruck.

The jaw-dropping prize was the highlight of Dubai Gold Souk Extension’s ‘Shop and Win’ campaign, which ran from 14 November to 31 January, offering shoppers a raffle entry for every Dh500 spent at participating outlets.

Someswararao Mungi, a 38-year-old fintech professional who has called Dubai home since 2021, shared his disbelief over the win. “Honestly, I’m still in shock. People often say these things are pure luck, but someone told me it could be a blessing for good deeds done in the past. It’s a humbling thought.

“I’m grateful to the Dubai Gold Souk Extension for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This win has truly brought immense joy to my life,” he added.
